About Us

Jesica Abella, EA, ABA, founder and CEO, has been working in the tax industry since 1994. She passed the Enrolled Agent exam in 2001 and the Accredited Business Advisor exam in 2016. Jesica worked for 9 years for a leading tax preparation company, preparing individual and business returns, as well as training and supervising new preparers. Jesica also spent five years working for a tax preparation software company as a Tax Content tester, researching tax law and verifying the accuracy of calculations.  In 2005, she founded Abella Tax Services and became a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.  Abella Tax Services was founded with the vision of providing small business owners the support they need to reach their goals.  Jesica is a member of NATP and the National Society of Accountants.

Crystal Alvord, Business Specialist and Vice President, joined ATS in 2013.  Her background includes Tax Software, Customer Service, Technical Support and Accounting.  She currently coordinates communications and the workflow of tax returns in our office.  She also prepares personal tax returns and provides notary services.  Crystal is currently pursuing her degree in accounting.  When not in the office Crystal spends her time supporting her daughter in her ice hockey endeavors and the association by volunteering.  She also supports her special needs son with his current passion of the week, and takes care of the menagerie of animals that have invaded her home.  Crystal is a member of NATP.

Dirk Rhynsburger, EA, Tax Advisor, had 6 years of experience with a leading tax preparation company in California preparing individual, small business (Sch C) and residential rental returns. Dirk became an Enrolled Agent in January of 2014. In August of 2014 he left California to be closer to his grandkids and joined Abella Tax Services in September. Dirk has a wide varied employment background and uses that experience to help individuals and those with small business returns understand the issues that affect them, and also counsels on budget and debt issues.

As of 2016 he will be entering his 8th year of preparing taxes and has added other entities as well (C Corps, S Corps, Partnerships and Gift Tax returns). In 2015 he has added the Tax Representation and Resolution aspect of the tax industry handling IRS and California FTB letters, collection issues, Levies and Liens and other issues. This is why he earned his Enrolled Agent status, as it allows him to represent individuals and businesses in front of the IRS. The only individuals with full representation rights to present before the IRS are Attorneys, CPA’s and Enrolled Agents.  Dirk is a member of NATP and NAEA, and is a board member for WSSEA.

When he is not in the office or following the tax law changes and updates he enjoys home remodeling projects, gardening, woodworking, and going to movies. He also loves spending time with his 3 grandchildren every Saturday.
